In 2018, OBEWL established the 91Ô­´´ State Seal of Biliteracy (91Ô­´´SB) Task Force to advise 91Ô­´´ on supporting continued growth of the Seal of Biliteracy in 91Ô­´´ school.Ìý This task form is a group of about 30 experts in the 91Ô­´´ Seal of Biliteracy recruited from across the state that includes: Directors of World Languages and English as a New Language (district administrators), heads of school (building administrators), Executive Directors and Resource Specialists from the Regional Bilingual Education Resource Networks (RBERNs), university faculty, classroom teachers, practicing Seal of Biliteracy Coordinators, and 91Ô­´´ staff. The group meetsÌýmonthly to analyze Seal performance and to conduct strategic planning to ensure proper identification and recruitment of future 91Ô­´´SB earners, including English Language Learners (ELLs), Ever ELLs, Heritage Language students and those learning English and another world language in school.Ìý The Task Force also partners with the Department to provide to support to schools offering the 91Ô­´´SB, including the development of resources and professional learningÌý ÌýMonthly meetings are held monthly from September to June via video conference.Ìý In addition, the 91Ô­´´SB Task Force holds three in-person meetings in Albany.
